As the Director of Data and Research Services, Dr. Weaver is responsible for the acquisition and management of CoEx data sets; providing statistical consultation and analysis for CoEx studies; coordination and management of research technology; and facilitating future grant applications, professional presentations, and manuscript submissions from CoEx. Dr. Weaver works in concert with the directors of the Research Core, Research Training Core (e.g., organize training sessions on statistical and methodological topics; provide data for student research projects), and Community Engagement Core (e.g., provide data for community partners). Dr. Weaver serves on the steering committees for both the CoEx and Partnership for Urban Health Research and coordinates a quantitative methods group comprised of faculty from multiple departments and colleges at GSU.
Prior to joining the CoEx, Dr. Weaver was a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Georgia State University, where he taught graduate courses in statistics and conducted research on ethnic minority, immigrant, and economically disadvantaged families to better understand and reduce health disparities among these populations. Since 2008, he has been a recipient of an external contract (co-PI with Dr. Kuperminc, Psychology) from the Georgia Family Connection Partnership to evaluate the effect of GFCP's community collaboratives on health and educational outcomes.
